Albergue Santa Madre / Santa Madre Emergency Shelter

Para que nadie tenga que quedarse en el frio / So that none need to stay out in the cold

Bienvenido - Welcome

"I often walk through the streets of Antigua, and my heart breaks to see the dozens of small and large bodies curled into the doorways and arches.

A few are drugged. Others are drunk. By far, most are there simply because they are poor and have no where else to go. All of them are people... all of them are God-like in their creation.

The "Santa Madre" Homeless Shelter of Antigua, Guatemala, was founded to effectively and efficiently remove these children and homeless adults from their suffering; to give them a safe place to stay, a hot meal to eat, a doctor to heal their wounds, and volunteers to say that they care."

Patrick Atkinson

Co-Founder & Executive Director

The "Santa Madre" Homeless Shelter of Antigua, Guatemala is a separate, apolitical, ecumenical charitable effort, made up of many different concerned people and charities, of which the Municipality of Antigua and La Asociación Nuestros Ahijados are just two of the concerns volunteering their time, skills, resources, and services.
